The LGBTQ+ Professional Academy for Advisors is the leading educational institute for advisors, faculty/staff and other professionals working with LGBTQ+ college students across the country.  It provides an affirming safe space for building professional relationships, community connections and ongoing support networks.

History/Background

Advisor Academy started in 2011 and continues to provide an evolving, dynamic institute for professionals working with LGBTQ+ college students on campuses. Expand your knowledge, enhance your skills as well as collaborate with others who share your passion for advising and creating safer, more welcoming communities.

Mission

The mission of the Campus Pride LGBTQ+ Professional Academy for Advisors is to train and support professionals who work with LGBTQ+ students to deepen understanding, learn best practices, hone advising skills and explore active ways to support the LGBTQ+ community.  

Who: Advisor Academy consists of individuals who support LGBTQ+ students on their campuses.  These advisors may include faculty, staff, graduate students, administrators and other professionals.  Advisor Academy consists of a separate curriculum experience during Camp Pride.

When you attend Advisor Academy, you will…

• Identity student-centered best practices for advising and supporting the LGBTQ+ community
• Learn Innovative advocacy strategies for leveraging resources,  LGBTQ+ campus organizing and social justice work 
• Thrive in a affirming safe space building professional relationships, community connections and ongoing support networks among peers
• Deepen awareness of the LGBTQ+ shared community, history and intergenerational learning 
• Develop a strategic action plan to navigate challenging campus climates and create positive change
• Receive tools and resources to increase LGBTQ+ competency in order to create safer, more inclusive spaces
• Identify ways to nurture your spirit, celebrate joy and practice self-care

Scholarships

Full and partial Advisor Academy scholarships are available on a limited basis.  Scholarships will be awarded starting in April and on a rolling-basis thereafter. Applicants who have already registered and paid will be refunded any scholarship monies at the time of the event. Due to a limited capacity, we do encourage you to register for Advisor Academy ASAP. Campus Pride seeks a diverse cohort of student leaders/advisors and these scholarships assist in this commitment across race, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, socio-economic and geographical boundaries.  Apply for a scholarship now.
