When did you first become involved with Campus Pride and what do you recall about your experience?

2009 was my first involvement with Campus Pride through the Camp Pride experience. I remember being moved by how many out & supportive people there were in the organization working to ensure that colleges everywhere are inclusive and accepting.

Share a story about a meaningful moment that you attribute to your experience with Campus Pride.

Camp Pride put me in contact with LGBTQ+ people all across the United States. I have the opportunity to connect with people who have had similar experiences and who are dedicated to making the world a better place through awareness raising, activism and service.

Describe what you are doing today with your professional life and how Campus Pride helped to prepare you?

I’m Currently a Resident Life Manager at Antioch College. I work collaboratively to provide a safe and engaging environment in the residence halls and on campus for students. Camp Pride gave me tools to help encourage my students to be effective program developers and to live their live out loud!

How did Campus Pride impact you and your individual growth as a leader?

Participation in the Camp Pride experience as a second-year student, really helped me build the internal sense of self that I believe helped me become the first out, queer student body president at my college.

What value do you feel Campus Pride brings to LGBTQ and Ally young adult leaders?

The national network of connections that Campus Pride gives to students is really important. It’s great to know that I could likely find a helpful or supportive person in any new place I find myself!

How does Campus Pride still provide enrichment to your life today and what you do professionally?

Currently, Campus Pride enriches my life through the fabric of the network as well as through the research arm of Campus Pride, Q Research Institute for Higher Education (QRIHE). I find that the research published through QRIHE is very useful in explaining why resources are needed on my campus.

What advice do you have for those involved in Campus Pride or for those who want to become more involved?

Keep it up! It’s a great community builder and there are many opportunities to stay involved!

What’s next for you in your personal and, or professional goals?

I plan to pursue a MSW/J.D. Dual Degree to build my ability to understand how policy changes impact our lives everyday.
