Camp Pride Educators in Residence Robyn Ochs and H. Sharif Williams Sweep the Bisexual Book Awards

Two of Camp Pride’s Educators in Residence swept the Third Annual Bisexual Book Awards on Saturday, May 30 in New York City. Robyn Ochs and H. Sharif Williams accepted four awards for their collection RECOGNIZE: The Voices of Bisexual Men. 

The anthology, which includes short fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, personal narratives, critical essays and visual art from 61 bisexual, pansexual, polysexual and fluid men from around the world, won in the categories of Best Anthology, Best Nonfiction, Writer of the Year and Publisher of the Year. The collection was also nominated for the Lambda Literary Awards in the category of Bisexual Nonfiction. Robyn Ochs, a Camp Pride Educator in Residence and member of the Campus Pride Speakers Bureau, is an educator, speaker, and award-wining activist. Her writings have been published in numerous bi, women’s studies, multicultural, and LGBTQ anthologies. She has taught courses on LGBTQ history and politics in the United States, the politics of sexual orientation, and the experiences of those who transgress binary categories of identity.

H. Sharif Williams, or Dr. Herukhuti, a Camp Pride Educator in Residence, is a professor at Goddard College, chief erotics officer (CEO) of the Center for Culture, Sexuality and Spirituality, and a 2015 Thought Leader for the Association of Black Sexologists and Clinicians. His work is focused on sexual cultures, Indigenous Wisdom Traditions and decolonization. His scholarship and activism focuses primarily on collaborating with people of African descent, LGBTQ people, women of color and poor and working class people.

Both editors of RECOGNIZE: The Voices of Bisexual Men will be at the 9^th annual Camp Pride on July 14-19 in Charlotte, NC as educators in residence.
